…And speaking of oyster shucking if you are headed out to The Great Googa Mooga Festival in Prospect Park this weekend be sure to stop by SHELL SHUCKED! hosted by The John Dory Oyster Bar which is taking place at the Boathouse at noon on Saturday and Sunday. We are going head-to-head against top shuckers from The Dutch, Pearl Oyster Bar, Ditch Plains, Jeffrey’s Grocery, and a bunch more from across the city. So if you are gonna be there please come cheer us on!

YEAH BUDDY!!! Our full belly Ipswich clamroll made the Daily Candy list of the best sandwiches in NYC alongside such venerable heavyweights as Katz’s, Porchetta, Fatty ‘Cue, DeFonte’s, Parm, Mile End, The Meatball Shop, Henry Public, Court Street Grocers and a bunch more!!!
As my man Warren Zevon would say “ENJOY EVERY SANDWICH!!!”
Also, in case you missed it, we stopped by the Mike & Judy show on Heritage Radio…..co-hosted by none other than the inimitable Mike Edison. The entire episode is archived so don’t freak out if you missed it….you can listen to it over and over and over again. The magic of the internet!

Never in a million years did we think that and idea we came up with over a grill at a backyard BBQ that congealed while doing shots at a bar would one day be getting stellar marks from no less an august publication than The New Yorker. At any rate we are reviewed in this week’s Tables For Two column:
With its white wainscoting and nautical paraphernalia, the room affects the look of some old dockside haunt. The menu follows suit, and is comprised mostly of no-fuss classics like fried oysters, skate wing, and steamers. The lobster rolls and clam rolls, made with nostalgia-tinged Sunbeam bread, are piled high with fish. There’s an unpretentious raw bar, craft beers, a small but well-chosen wine list. The predictable is leavened with notes of idiosyncrasy: a pea-shoot-and-watermelon-radish salad provides just the right edge of tartness to the greasier offerings, as does a beautifully balanced pickle garnish—sweet with a little chile—that accompanies several dishes.
Speaking of the “well-chosen wine list” we have added a bunch of new bottles for spring/summer and be sure to check in with us on Twitter where we are updating specials, the beer list, and our daily rotating selection of fresh east and west coast oysters!

Hey everybody! Can’t get enough of everything that co-owner Aaron gabs about when he’s bartending? You’re in luck – he and fellow Littleneck shipmates Joe and Miriam stopped by Roberta’s in the picturesque neighborhood of Bushwick to make an appearance on ye old radio programme SNACKY TUNES on the Heritage Radio Network. They had a fantastic time talking too much, eating lots of pizza, and drinking some tasty brews. You can listen to ‘em here, along with a band called Rewards, who play some tunes that are really freaking snacky.
In other news of things that are snacky, we’ve had some great stuff on the menu lately. Last week we had the privilege of being the first restaurant on the East Coast to ever serve KOBASHI OYSTERS!!!! That’s Kobashi, not Kobayashi, so they’ve got nothing to do with eating hot dogs really really really fast. However, these delicious little bivalves did manage to all get eaten up really really really fast when we had them on the menu, so we are trying to get more in soon. Meanwhile, have a look:
YUMMMMM! But don’t worry, there’s lots of other stuff to get pumped about. With summer on the way, we’ve put a Kölsch on draft (bring on the umlauts!!!!! take that, Motörhead!!!!) that pairs great with our clam and lobster rolls. We also have had some SMASH-HIT SPECIALS including seafood sausage, duck ham sandwich, pan-roasted tilefish with carrot-ginger lime butter purée, and charred octopus with white bean and arugula. We give a heads-up about the specials menu on Twitter every day, so make sure to follow us to see what crazy stuff is going on in the kitchen right this moment. Heading in soon are seasonal treats like soft-shell crabs, shad roe, ramps, and fiddleheads, so we hope to have some even more exciting stuff on the way.

Goatcat is going to Littleneck.....are YOU????

We are psyched to announce that we will be competing against 19 others in the Tasting Table 2012 Lobster Rumble happening June 7, 2012 in New York City. The lineup was just announced yesterday (and the Huffington Post has a slideshow with photos of all 20 contenders’ rolls) and tickets are now on sale. Proceeds are benefiting Share our Strength, a non-profit dedicated to fighting childhood hunger. It is a totally worthy cause and we are more than happy to support it.
So if you like lobster rolls and are down to support it and love you some lobster rolls head on over to the Tasting Table site to reserve your tickets today! Until then we will be holed up in the kitchen perfecting our bun-toasting technique.

It’s not just about the clam rolls over here…I mean it totally is, but it isn’t just about the clam rolls. We do burgers too! And Time Out New York recently named our burger as one of the best new kids in town alongside Roberta’s, The Cardinal, Allswell, Fatty ‘Cue, and the venerable Steak’n'Shake, the regional chain which I had no idea had even made in-roads into New York.
Time Out New York recommends the delicious picks on its Best New Burgers list as appropriate for “boys night out,” but we don’t discriminate. We will happily serve our burger (or anything else on the menu for that matter) to ladies and gents alike. And we highly recommend it accompanied by a platter of delicious oysters! Stay tuned to our daily specials and raw bar offerings on Twitter (and give us a shout to tell us what you liked, too!)

They say it is an honor just to be nominated and, lo and behold, it totally is. We came in at a respectable #3 in the best seafood category in this year’s Metromix reader’s poll. So thank you loyal readers, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Stop by this weekend. We have 7 different types of oysters right now a bunch of new beers including Green Flash Imperial IPA, Sly Fox Pikeland Pilsner and Narragansett Cream Ale…which brings us up to different flavors of ‘Gansett for those keeping score at home.
